:XD: you ALMOST got it. And that's incorrect, by the 16th century most Janissaries were equipped with muskets.

But but... Yes I ask my history teacher and he said "Most of them using musket but some battalions using old technic weapons. Like Azaps and Tımarlı sipahis." But but I love swords, sabers, bow&arrows and javelins. Why Muskeeet WHY?

The Azaps and the Sipahis were light infantry and cavalry respectively - Janissary troops were elite. So, get the best weapons for the best troops.

Sipahis are HEAVY not light. Also janissaries are like conscripts. Low cost, main body of army and wear a light armor. So, Best weapons for the main body of army.

Janissaries aren't even Turkish. :XD: They're Christians, and they guard the SULTAN. They were NEVER conscripts. :XD:

They are muslim until XVII. Century. They are devşirme. Their origins are christian but their names are turkish and they are muslim. Look wikipedia or somwhere else. And I said "like conscripts". Means light weapons, armors and education.

Viziers are Janissaries, and they have the highest education in the land. Turkish heavy infantry is composed of Janissary corps. I don't see it, sorry.
